How To Create Your Perfect Day-To-Night Outfit With Affordable Brands

One thing that you guys don’t know about me yet, is that I am a fashion stylist. My job is to create outstanding outfits for photo shoots, and individual people who would like to step up their game when it comes to the way they dress. With that being said, I always like to mix and match key pieces that together will create an amazing outfit that will make you stand out from the rest of the people.

Every Thursday night I get to meet with 3 of my closest friends and we get to update our girl frustrations, as possibly many of you do with your friends. This past Thursday we had a conversation about how busy we all were and that sometimes it gets a bit hard to dress nice because of time and money, so I decided that the next post would be about how to create day-to-night outfits with trendy affordable brands.

Being a Blood Donor

For those affordable, trendy pieces I chose a very famous brand that you guys might already know: Zara. The dynamic I did was to choose key pieces from this brand I mentioned (Zara) and create a day outfit that with adding more pieces I will be able to turn it into a night outfit. This gives you guys the opportunity to create similar ideas to the ones I’m giving you in this post and picking clothes from your favorite brand.

DAY LOOK

For this outfit, I chose a basic black embroidered T-shirt and paired it with a more elevated ruffled black skirt, that adds a more texture and also adds a more stylish overall look. Because the outfit it’s all black I had the option to choose between gold or silver flat sandals that gave a more feminine look to the outfit because of the gem-encrusted embellishment on the sandals. I also added a very casual woven crossbody bag with black details to complete the look. The overall price for this Zara outfit it’s between $170 -$189.

NIGHT LOOK

The cool thing about converting day outfits to night outfits it’s the part when you mix and match all the pieces and add more pieces for a “put together” outfit. For the night outfit, I chose a basic ribbed green turtleneck sweater paired with a Plaid grey blazer, this combination of colors compliments both pieces because the plaid of the blazer looks like it has green tones as well. For the bottom part, I chose the same skirt (because we are trying to convert an already made outfit into a night outfit). This time the skit is covered so the only thing we can see of the skirt is the ruffled details from the bottom. I also incorporated a more elegant bag with matching colors, and black sleek pointy shoes for a more glam/ edgy look.

Comparing the day-to-night outfits

  • The day outfit it’s more casual and relaxed rather than the night outfit that it’s edgier and more elegant.
  • Day outfits are created to be more comfortable, night outfits are supposed to be more glam and to show a little bit more “well put together”
  • The day outfit has more details because of how casual it is. The night outfit it’s simpler but it adds more value in the pointy heels and elegant small clutch bag.

Tips to create day-to-night outfits

Tip #1 – Choose Your Basics

Always choose the basic pieces that you feel comfortable in and the ones you know you look good in (considering your body shape). After you have your basics you can start building up from that and adding key pieces like coats and accessories.

Tip #2- Change Shoes

Day outfits are always or mostly paired with sneakers, flats and/or comfortable shoes. Pieces that you could wear while during errands, and running in the city, and still feel comfortable.

Tip #3- Change Accessories

If you are in a rush, it’s easier for you to add a jacket as the key piece and then change your accessories to make your outfit pop, rather than just adding the jacket that might not make a difference in your change or pieces.
